House

The house is made up of 1 bedroom, 2 sitting rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and two terraces (one sunny and one shady). There is also a small courtyard and a storage cave. It can technically sleep 6, as there is a sofabed in one sitting room and a futon in the other, but the house is only really big enough for 4. To get a better idea, see pictures of the kitchen (x2) (the second picture shows the replaced kitchen), vault (x2), upstairs room, bedroom and terrace (x2), as well as two different views from the terrace.

Practicalities

Equipment

There is a washing machine in the bathroom (no dryer, but there is a line on the terrace hidden by the lights), a dish-washer, a CD player, stove, combination oven/grill/microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, cafétière, a raclette, pans, crockery, iron and ironing board. There are NO towels or sheets, so please bring your own. There are two loungers and 2 deck-chairs for the terrace. There is also a screen that comes out from above the window. The winder is behind the terrace door. Finally, there are two front-suspension bikes for you to use in the cellar, as well as a BBQ.

Bonnieux, a nearby vilage.

Utilities

The water needs to be turned on in two places; one tap is under a man-hole cover in the alley running up the side of the house, on the other side of the house from the front door. There are two taps under the cover. Ours is the one farthest from the wall (Bang on the cover before you take it up as scorpions like this hole). The other tap is in the downstairs’ sitting-room, next to the glass door.

The gas is stored in a bottle in the downstairs cellar (, which has a tap on the top to start the flow. In the unlikely event of it running out, please replace it at a petrol station, then call us and we will refund you in full.

The hot water switch is in the kitchen to the left of the window, and to the right of a switch marked N(uit) and J(our). Move it from A(rret) to M(arche). The water is heated at night. If you need hot-water in the day, move the switch to J. It will revert to N automatically at around 10pm.Please take care when standing on the counter-top, as the tiles break easily.

The electricity is turned on from a cupboard in the courtyard to the right of the front-door as you look at it (orange push-switch). The fuse-box is in the cupboard below the hot-water switch. There is a torch hanging up by the fridge.

There is NO phone. If you have a mobile, make sure it works in France, and your phone company has switched on ‘International Roaming’ for you.

Please, please turn all of these switches/taps off when you leave !

General

You should arrive in the day-time as the house is easier to find by day, and there are four keys required to enter the house. If you do intend to arrive at night, bring a torch. The front door is green (the video shows a red door but we recently painted it. The two keys (identicallly shaped) for the front door unlock the opposite way you are used to , i.e. anti-clockwise. The key for the inside door should be inserted upside down

The rubbish should be place in two communal bins found on the slope up to the house. There is also a recycling area 100yards down the hill from La Clementine restaurant.

Please leave the place as you found it for the next guests. This means that the kitchen floors need to be swept, the fridge emptied and the fridge doors left open, the oven cleaned, the bathroom cleaned, all the doors locked and bolted, and all the utility taps and switches turned off.

Please also print out these pages to take down with you.
