 Flying from the US

Probably the quickest way to get to the house from the US is to fly to Avignon via Paris-Orly. (Make sure it is Orly, not CDG!). Alternatively, connect to Marseille, again through Paris. I find Expedia.com (from the US) to be a good search site.

Flying from the UK

London/the South

There are are 3 main airlines that fly to within an hour away, namely :

British Airways

who fly to Marseille from Gatwick (around £200 return)

Buzz,

who also fly to Marseille, but from Stansted (£100-160 return)

Ryanair,

who fly to Nimes, also from Stansted (£75-200 return)

Flying from anywhere else

Sorry, can’t help you here.

Marseille is an hour away, and an easier drive, mainly on the motorway. Nimes is about an hour and a half. The most direct route from there is via St Remy. Look at the map to get a better idea.

To hire a car when you get there, all the main agencies (Hertz, Avis, Budget, National) have desks at both airports. The airport code for Marseilles is MRS, for Nimes FNI

If you are getting a train to either London Gatwick or London Stansted, Railtrack has timetables.

You can also fly to Avignon, but only from Paris-Orly, on Air France.

And don’t forget your passport !
